The proposal of the FSA on the recognition of fish caught in the areas of international agreements as a Russian product was supported
The Fishery Shipowners Association (FSA) raised the issue of recognizing fish caught in the areas of international agreements as Russian goods at a meeting of the EEC expert group on the draft protocol on amendments to the Customs Code of the EAEU.
The draft protocol does not take into account the provisions that allow recognizing fish caught under international treaties and products made from it as goods of the EAEU.
Within the framework of such agreements, in particular with Norway, Morocco and Japan, FSA’s participants catch significant volumes of various types of fish: cod and haddock, sardine, mackerel and others.
The FSA noted that the lack of a definition of such fish as a product of the Union in the EAEU Customs Code creates a gap in legal regulation. This will lead to additional costs for fishermen when importing and will negatively affect the cost of fish products in the domestic market.
The Expert group supported this comment. The Russian side was invited to finalize the draft protocol at the stage of domestic coordination.
FSA previously sent these proposals to the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance of Russia and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
