500 servings of fish soup from the FSA: Murmansk celebrated Fisherman's Day in style.
On July 11 and 12, large-scale celebrations on the occasion of Fisherman's Day took place at the Marine Station of the city of Murmansk. This year, the general partner of the event was the Fishtry Shipowners Association (FSA).
The eventful program allowed guests to sample fish dishes, including cod soup from the FSA, shop for bargains through the "Our Fish" program, try out the role of a fisherman in the photo zone, and participate in master classes. Visitors also had the opportunity to meet Alexey Osipenko, captain of a fishing vessel from the FSA member company, and learn many interesting things about fish and the modern fishing industry. Murmansk residents learned about Russia's place in the global fish market, the capabilities of the new fishing fleet, and why fish is essential for our health. A food court, the "Our Fish" fair, a mobile office of the Russian Agricultural Bank, and a "Fish Panic" costume contest were also available for guests. The evening program on both days concluded with performances by cover bands and beloved Murmansk musicians.
The Russian Crab company, a member of the FSA, which began operations in the Northern Basin last year, also became a partner of the festival.
In a telegram on the occasion of Fisherman's Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the fisheries industry is one of the fundamental sectors of the domestic economy, on which the country's food security and the quality of life of people in coastal regions depend. The President emphasized that the growing popularity of fishing contributes to the development of tourism and fosters a caring attitude towards Russia's natural resources. The industry currently demonstrates significant growth potential: the fishing fleet is being updated, coastal and logistics infrastructure is being improved, advanced technologies are being introduced, and qualified personnel are being trained.
