The Russian state flag was hoisted on the Kapitan Martynov super trawler
This ST-192 large freezing fishing trawler is designed for catching pollock and herring by pelagic trawl in the Bering Sea and Sea of Okhotsk, as well as in areas adjacent to Russia's East Coast. It is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment for waste-free fish processing and freezing, allowing it to produce fillets, minced meat, surimi, fish oil, pollock roe, and fish meal. The vessel will have its own on-board fish and meal processing plant, capable of producing up to 60-80 tonnes of fish fillets, or 80 tonnes of surimi mince, as well as up to 40 tonnes of fish meal daily.
The super trawler is named after Viktor Martynov (1954-2002), ship captain and esteemed veteran of the Far East fishing fleet. Raised in an orphanage, he chose a life at sea and enrolled in the Kherson Maritime Fishing School. After graduating in 1974, he moved to Vladivostok, where he began working on fishing vessels, rising from the rank of sailor to captain director. He continued his work in the industry on land as well, successfully managing the Spanish-built smaller fishing and prawn trawler fleet, the most powerful fishing fleet of the time, which reached its peak efficiency under his leadership. His career in the industry spanned 28 years of accident-free service. For his long-standing diligent work and contributions to the advancement and enhancement of Russia's fishing industry, he was bestowed with the Honorary Worker of the Fishing Industry of Russia badge, and received multiple government diplomas and letters of acknowledgement.
The RFC is now assembling an all-new fleet consisting of 11 technologically advanced super trawlers. Each trawler is engineered to annually catch and process 60 thousand tonnes of fish on board, a figure that surpasses the productivity of the existing main vessels of the Russian Far East fishing fleet by 2.5 fold.
The inaugural vessel was built at Tersan shipyard in Turkey and was delivered to the client in late 2020. This supertrawler, officially named Vladimir Limanov, commenced its fishing operations in 2021 and is already displaying impressive production results. The second vessel, Kapitan Vdovichenko, was built at the Admiralty Shipyards and delivered to the Russian Fishery Company in 2022. Following a successful journey via the Northern Sea Route, the trawler started fishing in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea in October. In 2023, these super trawlers had the best KPI in the Far East basin. The Mekhanik Maslak super trawler was delivered to the Russian Fishery Company in February 2023 and began operations after successfully navigating the Suez Canal. The super trawler Mekhanik Sizov was handed over to the RFC in August 2023 and started field trials in October. All of the RFC's super trawlers ensure up to 100% on-board deep processing of catches, demonstrating the new fleet's high productivity.
