He stressed that a significant need for personnel is a challenge for the development of the industry. Today, mechanics, service engineers are in great demand, as well as specialists in the production of surimi on new vessels. Despite the high level of remuneration in fishing, according to industry experts, the share of graduates of educational institutions of the Federal Agency for Fishery who remain after the first year of work is about 15%.
“Training highly qualified personnel for fisheries is among the key tasks identified by the recently approved Strategy for the Development of the Agro-Industrial and Fisheries Complexes,” said Alexey Osintsev. “To solve this problem, it is necessary to ensure a connection between the cadet and the future employer: these are internship programs, and the participation of existing specialists as teachers, and the formation of curricula in accordance with the promising needs of the industry.”
Earlier, the Association came up with a number of initiatives in the field of specialized education. The FSA proposed extending the state program of targeted training in the most popular specialties to fisheries within the framework of amendments to the law "On Education", which are currently being considered in the State Duma. This initiative was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Federal Agency for Fisheries. Among the objectives of introducing targeted training is the transition from hiring on a flight to long-term employment contracts. The association also came out with support for a tax deduction for investors in education.
“Training highly qualified specialists is the first stage in solving the problem of staffing the industry. The next, no less important, is the provision of decent working and living conditions on board, - added Alexey Osintsev. - This becomes possible with the renewal of the fishing fleet. The new vessels provide a modern level of working and living conditions, thanks to the high efficiency of marine processing, wages will increase even more.”
