Concern for safety in the fishery

FSA supported the draft order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on the approval of the Procedure for medical examinations, including toxicology testing, which determines the presence of drugs, psychotropic substances and their metabolites in the body; and forms of a medical report on the absence of contraindications to work on board.

The approval of the order will improve the safety of navigation and the conducting of marine fisheries.

The relevance of the project is caused by the months-long duration of voyages of sea fishing vessels, the geodistance of fishing areas from Russian seaports, the costs and organizational challenges of evacuation of crew members of sea fishing vessels when they shore leave in cases of use of the substances at sea that covered by the draft order.

The position of the Association is submitted to the Russian Chamber of Shipping.
