World exports of main deep-processed fish products, 3Q 2024
According to the results of 9 months of 2024, the volume of Russian exports of the main deep-processed fish products (fillets and minc) amounted to 171 thousand tons, which is 19.6% higher than the same period last year. The share in the global supplies of fish fillets and minced fish was 5.6%, which provides Russia with the sixth position among the world exporters of such products. According to the results of 2023, the share was slightly less - 5.3% (6th position). This follows from the data of international export statistics analyzed by the Fishery Shipowners Association (FSA).

The top 10 world exporters of fish fillets and minced meat based on the results of 9 months of 2024 are led by China with a share of 16.3%. Next in descending order of share are Vietnam (15.9%), the USA (9.7%), Norway (8.2%), Chile (7.7%), Russia (5.6%), the Netherlands (5.4%), Iceland (3.7%), Indonesia (2.9%), India (1.2%).
Over five years (from 2017 to 2023), Russia has more than doubled its supplies of fish fillets and minced fish to the foreign market (from 84 to 219 thousand tons per year) with the highest average annual growth rate of 14.7%, which is due to the development of domestic deep fish processing. The fastest growing product is surimi, the production of which in Russia began in 2021. In less than four years, the share of surimi in the export of fish fillets and minced fish has grown to almost a third.
The main products in the export of fish fillets and minced meat from Russia are pollock fillets (48.5% based on the results of 9 months of 2024), pollock surimi (31%) and cod fillets (13.5%). Another 7% came from haddock fillets, herring, fillets of other fish and minced fish.
