Analysis of the new crab fishing vessels parameters
The new crab catchers will ensure a significant increase in catches per vessel, safety and environmental friendliness of the fishery. This is confirmed by the results of the analysis carried out by the experts of the Fishery Shipowners Association (FSA).
Crab catchers under construction are armed with a large number of crab traps, equipped with powerful main engines and with thrusters, which provides the necessary maneuverability in setting and selecting traps. The storage capacity of live crabs has been increased by 2.4 times, the gross tonnage is 2 times higher.

According to the results of the investment auctions of the first stage, new vessels with such parameters will replace half of the required fishing capacity in crab catching. The average age of vessels in this segment today is 33 years. It is estimated that the planned second round of auctions will result in an order for another 35 crab fishermen. This will completely upgrade the fishing capacity of the crab fleet.
