World frozen fish exports, 3Q 2024
Frozen fish remains the main product of Russian fish exports, its supplies provide 50% of the value of fish exports from Russia and 80% of the tonnage. In terms of frozen fish export volume, Russia traditionally occupies a leading position among world exporters.
According to the results of three quarters of the current year, Russia exported more than 1 million tons of frozen fish. According to international statistics analyzed by the Fishery Shipowners Association (FSA), Russian supplies amounted to 17.4% of the total global frozen fish export volume, which exceeded the share at the end of 2023 (16.2%). The top five leaders in terms of volume for 9 months also include China (11.7%), the Netherlands (7.2%), Norway (7%), and the USA (6.6%). Moreover, the USA displaced Chile, which occupied the fifth line at the end of 2023. The positions at the end of last year were distributed as follows: Russia (16.2%), China (7.2%), Norway (5.2%), the Netherlands (4.9%), Chile (4.7%).

World exports of fish and seafood for the 9 months of 2024 reached almost $ 86 billion and by the end of the year will most likely be close to the level of 2023. In 2023, it amounted to $ 138.7 billion, which is 6.4% lower than the 2022 figure. Russia's share in the value of global fish exports for the first 9 months of this year amounted to 4.6% (4.2% by the end of 2023).
